Tallahassee Police confirmed Friday that a man committed suicide after wounding five people in a yoga studio.
The shooting occurred around five in the afternoon on the second floor of a small shopping center and according to the police so far there are two dead, including the shooter.
“One person died after being transferred to the hospital. Four other people are injured,” Alison Faris, spokeswoman for the city, told the media.
“All the evidence indicates that it is the act of a single person” and that there is currently no “immediate threat” in the area, said Tallahassee police chief Michael DeLeo.
So far the motivations and identity of the attacker are unknown. The wounded are in a “critical” condition.
The mayor of Tallahassee, Andrew Gillum, Democratic candidate for governor, thanked the police for the quick response.
